Another Slashtones Rehearsal ?

It must be really cold in a warm place right about now. Not only did we all rehearse again the other night, we also recorded! As per usual, the regulars were there, we jammed, rehearsed and, and, dare I say, created and recorded the first new Tone-tune in a few years.
It seems the synergy level is not only back, but has grown beyond any prior incarnations. This minimalist line up has taken on a life of it's own. Budgie gets the MVP award for the last rehearsal. It was his inspiration that brought forth the creations of a tune we'll be calling "Norwegian Island", or "Gilligan's Wood". (Get it?)

As to the recording, it's on baby! The magic of the other night produced four 75% complete Pro-tools multi track recordings. The way Roderick Kohn and Company have set up Blue Ribbon Sound is a producer's dream come true. Everyone's playing in separate soundproof rooms, but are in eye contact with each other. The energy level of the other nights session was great and we managed to get some great tracks in the process. At this rate, you may just get that long awaited Slashtones CD sooner than you think.

We were also informed that we, and most of the other acts on the May 19 benefit will be playing for 10 minutes. As i said in the pervious column, we volunteered to go on first. So if you're planning to see The Slashtones, buy your ticket in advance, show up early and run your asses up those stairs when you get in the building. If you blink you might miss us. But there will be other, longer shows! The band had a pow wow after the rehearsal the other night and it was decided to not only keep recording after the May 19th show, but to also play as many shows as possible between now and March 10th of 2005. Hey, it may be only one more show or one hundred, but this band will officially expire 11 years, 11 months and 11 days after it was began. I am more determined than ever to not let this band make it to it's twelfth year.

Another topic was approached and that was to update our style. Since "The New Original Slashtones" is a new band, (not to be confused with The Famous Original Slashtones or The Original Famous Slashtones.) we need to modernize ourselves. Most of the band is in their mid to late 30s now, (ok, stop laughing, this is rock and roll, we're allowed to lie.) so we need to give everyone something to like about this band

Tony Moore will now be marketed to the old "Seattle Grunge" market and will know be known as "Moore Tar Tony" or "Blacktop Brooklyn Tony." or just "Tony".

Roderick Kohn's
focus represents the nu-psychedelic movement with his new pseudo-retro persona will be "Wavy Kohny" but he will also answer to the name "Rodi Kohn". (We considered the name "Marty Kohn", but that would be wrong.)

Steve Budgie will be showcased to fans of Tribal, Trance and College Football Marching Bands. his new name will be "Grand Master Budgeman" or "Budgie Da Beat".

I myself will be showcased to the rap and hip-hop world as "MC Big Phat White Guy".

And Arno Hecht will continue to be pushed to appeal to the Jazz and Swing fans and will continue to be called "The Hep Cat".

Other possible future band members will be altered as needed.
That's all for now kids. Until next time, I'm off to see the wizard...
