TONE WORLD "NEWZ"

Howdy folks.
In the past few days I have received a large number of emails from original ECW and TNA fans asking me to let TNA use all of my old original ECW songs for TNA’s “Hardcore Justice” PPV on August 8, so I have decided to address that topic.

If it were solely up to me I would say yes in a heartbeat as I would love for the fans to get to experience ECW, as it should be, one more time. Unfortunately that decision is no longer solely up to me. The “great and powerful“ WWE now owns an interest in those songs and I highly doubt that Vinny and the boys up north will give TNA their permission to use the tunes even though they (WWE) would make a few bucks from it. Unfortunately I can't elaborate more on that subject due to a Federal Court Order.

Back on July 3rd at the TNA house show I attended in Brooklyn NY, I expressed interest to a couple of TNA officials about doing a brand new song for their "Extreme" faction. I explained to them, as i wrote above, that the use of the old music may not be an option. I would have liked to approach the new song, not as another rehash of “This Is Extreme!”, but as what the ECW theme might sound like today if the company hadn’t closed down.

I didn't hear back from anyone in TNA until the next set of TV tapping a few weeks later when another TNA official contacted me about using the old ECW tunes. I once again explained that this wasn't a viable option, but again expressed interest in recording brand new songs for them. The tunes would get the “Extreme” sound that “Harry Slash & The Slashtones” and ECW were known for, but would NOT be clones of what I did before.

(As a song writer and producer I have matured a great deal since “This Is Extreme!” was written and recorded in one week back in 1997 and I am working with a much better studio and musicians. And let's be honest here, no other music producer on the planet understands the sound of the original ECW better then myself. While I think TNA's Dale Oliver (and WWE's Jim Johnson) are good at what they do, I highly doubt that either one of them could ever do what I did. To write "Extreme" you have to have lived "Extreme".)

TNA’s “Hardcore Justice” PPV is less than two weeks away and as of this writing no one from TNA’s upper level management has contacted me about doing new music for them. Is it still possible to record songs before the PPV? Yes. During the original ECW days I was able to kick out some of the tunes in only a couple of days, but the ball is in TNA’s court now.

Regards,
Harry / Slash
