RICHIE SCARLET HAS JOINED THE SLASHTONES!
(I’ve decided to just write this off the top of my head rather than my usual long-winded detailed reports.)

"The Emperor" Richie Scarlet has officially joined The Slashtones as it's lead guitar player. I've been fortunate enough to have always worked with great musicians since I started the Slashtones and adding Richie Scarlet as a full band member is a natural fit. I have been especially lucky to have had Mark Hitt in this band since 2006, but I was so burned out after parting ways with our former guitar player that I didn't book any shows. Now that I “got my smile back”, Mark Hitt is too involved with his numerous other projects and playing live shows with us is not an option for him right now. Myself, Arno Hecht, Steve Budgie and Felix Hanemann want to get back on stage with the crazy “VH1 meets TV Land” version of this band and also record a real album of all-Slashtones tunes. After bouncing a few names around we realized the natural choice for this band was “The Emperor” himself. Richie Scarlet. Richie, who has played alongside Ace Frehley, Mountain, Sebastian Bach, UFO and so many others, will be rounding out the current cast of The Slashtones as a full band member for all future live shows and studio recordings.

Our game plan is to hit the rehearsal studio and wade through The Slashtones entire back catalogue of songs including the original tunes I did for ECW and choose the ones we want to re-record and play live and add new original material as well. Richie Scarlet was the first guitar player I worked with during this band's Extreme Championship Wrestling era. Richie played guitar on the very first versions of “Path Of Rage” and “Innovation” that were used back in February of ‘97 on WWF’s “Monday Night Raw”. (I should have stuck with Richie...)

Our live set and CD will feature the best of The Slashtones’ “Comic-rock” tunes, a whole bunch of new ones, original instrumentals, new songs and a few remakes from everyone's respective musical past. (Maybe an acoustic version of the ECW Theme? A reggae version of an Ace Frehley song? An R&B version of a Zebra tune? Who knows?) We already have a deal in place with a media company (who's name I can't mention yet) to put our new stuff up on i-tunes. Rhapsody and the other internet music sites and we're talking to a few different labels about in-store distribution. (“The Slashtones, coming soon to a Megalo-Mart near you.”)

OK, I've said too much already, and yes I know I've been talking about breaking up this band for three plus years, but I'd be an idiot to stop this project now. Fasten your seat belts folks, it's going to be one hell of a ride from here on out.
Regards,
Harry Slash

PS: I just want to make it clear that Mark Hitt is still “part of the family” and is the only person to ever receive the status of “Part-time, when he's available band member”.
