TONE WORLD "NEWZ"

Slashtones band update and solo projects.

Well it's been a while since the last band update. The Slashtones 14 year anniversary (03/27/07) has come and gone without much fanfare, mostly because of how busy everyone in the band has been. As most of you know, the band went through some changes last year, adding a keyboard player for the first time in the band's history and a "changing of the guard" on guitar resulting in the single best lineup in this band's history. But before we talk about Slashtones' business, let's take a look at what some of the band's individual members have been doing.

Bassist Tony Moore has been in an undisclosed studio recording lead vocals on some tracks for Japanese guitar sensation Takayoshi Ohmura's follow-up to his 2004 CD "Nowhere To Go" on Pony Canyon Records in Japan. Takayoshi Ohmura has been called a future guitar legend in the making.

Guitarist Mark Hitt has been spending time down south writing and recording an album with some very "High Voltage" players that are part of one of the highest selling albums of all time. The new band and it's member roster is TOP SECRET for the time being, but a tentative tour and CD release is in the works. We'll have full details as soon as we're given the green light to report on everything. Early reports tell us the band sounds like a cross between Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, The Who and a bit of The Rolling Stones mixed in. (When you find out who's in the band you'll understand why those comparisons are made.)

Saxophonist Arno Hecht can be heard on the resent TOM WAITS release "Orphans" on Anti / Epitaph Records.

Guru Harry Slash has been busy in pre-pre-production for a TOP SECRET ethnic / folk CD. That album will feature well known Rock and Blues musicians performing traditional ethnic folk music. (More details to come.)

Keyboardist Felix Hanemann will be performing some live shows with his band ZEBRA.

"Too Fast For Love" A Millennium Tribute to Motley Crue, featuring "City Boy Blues" by Reckless Fortune with members of The Slashtones! will be on sale in stores everywhere on June 19, 2007.

The Slashtones are scheduled to begin recordings on several projects towards the end of Summer. First up will be a few tracks for an upcoming Led Zeppelin Tribute CD. Everyone in the band is looking forward to this as Led Zeppelin has been a major influence on everyone in the Slashtones as well as the fact that many in the band have a personal connection to Led Zeppelin and it's members. Tony Moore played with Jimmy Page while he was living in New Orleans. Mark Hitt has recorded with both Robert Plant and the late John Bonham. Arno Hecht was a member of Robert Plant & The Honeydrippers and has also played with Jimmy Page, and Harry Slash used to drink very heavily with Jason Bonham (John Bonham's son) whenever Jason was in New York. As previously reported, The Slashtones will be doing their Zep covers in a very "Slashtonian" way, which means a whole lot of horns and other instruments that weren't on the original tunes. There have been a multitude of previous Led Zep tributes so The Slashtones! have their work cut out for them to try and top what has come before. Several former and honorary Slashtones as well as some new "Friends" will be joining us for that project. Also on deck are a couple of songs for a KISS tribute CD

Pre-production has also begun on the recording of a full length studio album of original Slashtones material and possibly some new interpretations of some old "Bingo Hall" classics. There is also the possibility of The Slashtones doing a few shows at a well known venue later this year.

That's all for now. Hopefully it wont be four months before the next band update.
