Mark Hitt Joins The Slashtones. Harry Slash & The Slashtones are happy to welcome their newest band member, the legendary Mark Hitt.
Mark is considered by many to be one of today's greatest guitarists. A world-class guitar virtuoso that has influenced the likes of Steve Vai, Joe Satriani and Steve Stevens, Mark Hitt was a member of one of New Yorks most legendary bands, the original Rat Race Choir, and recorded with Maggie Bell, Robert Plant, John Bonham, Eddie Jobson and his band Green and a multitude of others. Mark toured with The Whos John Entwistle and Leslie West of Mountain among other, and his credits also include the band Torque (with Steve Lungo from the original Rat Race Choir and the John Entwistle Band), several soundtracks and a studio stint with The Tubes.
(l. - r.) Arno Hecht, Harry Slash & Mark Hitt
Mark Hitt unofficially entered the Slashtones family back in April of 2006 when he did a guest appearance on lead guitar for the Harry Slash produced Reckless Fortune cover of the Montrose tune Rock Candy for Versailles Records.' (released on August 15, 2006)
Mark was offered and accepted full band member status with The Slashtones on September 21st of 2006, shortly after recording guitar tracks on The Slashtones version of 'You Really Got Me" that will be released later this year. The Slashtones have also begun pre-production work for the next series of recordings that will include new material, and a few interpretations of Led Zeppelin classics that will be released in 2007. Mark will (hopefully) be making his live debut with The Slashtones before the end of the year. Mark Hitt also plays in the band Hindenberg with fellow Slashtones Steve "Budgie" Werner and Felix Hanemann.
Mark Hitt officially replaces The Slashtones' previous guitarist Roderick Kohn, who will be pursuing his other interests including his band "Purple Pam" and other projects. The Slashtones would like to thank Roderick for his services and wish him the best of luck with his career and perhaps we may see him back some day.
