HARRY SLASH BREAKS UP THE SLASHTONES?
Yes, it's true. On Thursday, March 10th of 2005 at 11PM, Harry Slash officially broke Up "The Slashtones". Exactly 11 years, 11 months and 11 days after the band's "One Night Only" debut on March 27th of 1993, Harry Slash made it official (again) and has permanently broken up that band. "The Slashtones" and all it's incarnations are no more. If you are a member of "The Slashtones" and have not been contacted by Slash, consider this it.
This does NOT affect "The ("New Original") Slashtones" which was formed in 2002 from the ashes of "Harry Slash & The Slashtones" and is scheduled to perform live at Irving Plaza on May 19th, 2005 and has two songs on the forthcoming "Guns-N-Roses" tribute CD. Oh no, we'd be stupid to breakup that lineup. It's the best band most of us have ever played in.
But the original versions of "The Slashtones" that featured: Lisa Anselmo, S. Bondy, Butch Garcia, Chuck Hancock, Arno Hecht, Roderick Kohn, Mike Lawler, Mickey Leigh, Tony Moore, Rawn Randell, Paul Sheehan, Harry Slash, Even Steven, G-Man Sullivan. Amy Wagman, Lez Warner, Steve Budgie Werner and a few forgotten others is over and done. In it's place stands "The ("New Original") Slashtones", featuring Arno Hecht, Roderick Kohn, Tony Moore, Harry Slash and Steve Budgie Werner. ("The ("New Original") Slashtones" will now absorbe the deep history of "The Slashtones" into it's mythos now.)
Please Note: The words "New Original" in the band's name, The ("New Original") Slashtones are silent. They're not pronounced when you say the band's name. Sometimes they're not even written down. In fact, the whole name change thing and this article is just an easy way of explaining to former band members why they're not playing with us anymore.
"It's a whole new band man. We're just using the same name and songs, and some of the same members of the band you were in, but this is not the same band. This is a different band."
