BAND UPDATE: 10/09/09

Hey folks. We haven't updated in a while because there hasn't been anything major to say, so let me catch you all up on what hasn't been happening.

We were planning on releasing an album of all covers (done Slashtones style) this Christmas but that had to be put on hold for now and will be released later next year. All tentative live shows We'd been offered over the summer and fall had to be pushed back to later this year and early next year due to massive schedule conflicts amongst the cast members, but we're used to that after all these years. We also had to push back our recordings for the "all Slashtones" CD for a while. Richie Scarlet's band The 5th Avenue Vampires were on tour with Alice Cooper, Felix Hanemann had some commitments with Zebra and Hindenberg, Arno Hecht has been doing some gigs with Ronnie Spector. Sam Moore and several others and Steve Budgie's been playing with about 38 other bands, give or take a few dozen or so.

But the good news is that The Slashtones are back on track and going back to the studio the week of October 19th to start recording. During the last few months while no one's schedules allowed for everyone in this band to be in the same room at the same time, I spent quite a bit of time with everyone individually, going over what we'll be keeping from all of the old unreleased stuff and bouncing around ideas for new songs and parodies ("Mash-Ups?", "Comic-Rock?", "TV-Rock?", heck even I don't know what to call the twisted tunes we do anymore....)

And finally for those of you reading this that have followed us from the old ECW Wrestling days, the current cast and crew (and a few guests) will be recording a few updated versions of some old songs from the "Bingo Hall Days" as well as some tunes I wrote back then between 1996 to 2000 but never recorded. It's going to be an interesting album (or three) to say the least.

That's all for now kids,
Regards,
Harry /.

The Slashtones' 16 Year Anniversary.
I would like to say thank you to all the fans, friends and musicians that have supported The Slashtones for the last 16 years. This will be the "final season" of The Slashtones and I plan to go out with a bang, not a whimper. We have a few possible live shows lined up and have been talking to a few friends from such notable bands like Deep Purple, Guns N' Roses and The New York Dolls about joining us for these shows. On the studio front I am obligated to producing songs for upcoming tribute CDs to Buck Cherry, AC/DC, Aerosmith, The Rolling Stones and The Black Crows and at least two or three of those tracks will be recorded by The Slashtones. I am also considering completing the recording of my third attempt at producing an all Slashtones "comic-rock mash-up" CD that we started last year.

Also, I have just recently found two old notebooks from my time with the original Extreme Championship Wrestling that contained 11 unrecorded song ideas written during that time. Some page notes date back to 1997 while others are as late as December of 2000. Several are just random written notes about song ideas while others are chord charts for intros, verse and chorus parts and others have complete bass and guitar lines written down. A few have definitive song titles like "Can You Feel My Pain?" (obviously written for Raven), "Rotten To The Core" (Axl Rotten?) and a few others. Several are untitled and I have no idea who they were written for, or they just have a wrestler's name as the title like "Taz 3". Not sure what I'll do with these 11 "Lost ECW Classics", they may suck, or they may be as good as the tunes all you folks have been downloading for the last 12 years. I'll be giving this some thought and get back to you all about that.

For now I just want to say a very special thank you to all those that were a close part of this sixteen year ride. A very special "Thank You" to Andy Abbene, Jerry Adams, Lisa Anselmo, Peter Aschner, Steve Bondy, Jake Brown, Chris Carter, Bobby Chiapardi, Marianne DeAngelis, Scott DeBoys, Artie Dillon, Frank & Joey Fortune, Francine Fournier, Jed "Big Poppa" Freedman, Butch Garcia, Gregg Gerson, Mac Gollehon, Chuck Hancock, Felix Hanemann, Arno Hecht, Paul Heyman, Mark Hitt, Taso Karras, Theri Kennedy, "Kiss Alive!", Roderick Kohn, Mike Lawler, Mike Lewis, Even Steven Levee, Mickey Leigh, Mike Miranda, Tony Moore, the late Carlisle Lynn Phillips ("Doc"), Pam Purple, Rawn Randell, "Reckless Fortune", Brad Rosen, Charles Sabin, Richie Scarlet, Paul Sheehan, Tarik Solongi, the late Eddie Sperry, Garry Sullivan, Taz, Joe Lynn Turner, Rob & Sonya Van Dam, Amy Wagman, Lez Warner, Steve "Budgie" Werner, Eddie Wohl, all the bands we shared a stage with and all of my (original) ECW Alumni.

Regards and thank you to all,
Harry /

Adios Amigos.

The entire Slashtones Family wish Tony Moore and his wife Anne Pierce a fond farewell from New York as they "load up the truck and move to Beverly, Hills that is." Tony and Anne are leaving New York for California. It has been an absolute pleasure collaborating with Tony Moore since late 1995 and wish him much success with the "RIOT" reunion. Tony will always have a place in "The Slashtones!" and we hope to one day record or play with him again, time zones permitting that is.

(Ironic that Tony Moore's last live performance with The Slashtones was on the song 'California Sun'. "Well I'm going out west where I belong...")

Quick News & Notes.
We just completed production of "14 Years" (for the 2nd time...) for an upcoming tribute to Guns N' Roses due out this August, and we've gone back to tracking songs for a Led Zeppelin tribute due out this November. We have also started pre-production for an actual all Slashtones project. Some new folks will be coming into The Slashtones family as one of our longest running cast members may be going out west. There's also talk of returning to the stage for a live show this September. (Full Reports to come)
