Felix Hanemann was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. His early influences include the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, the Byrds, and Cat Stevens.

Felix Hanemann formed the band Zebra with guitarist / singer Randy Jackson and drummer Guy Gelso with Felix manning the roles of bass, keyboards and backing vocals. Zebra quickly rose to the top of the food chain in the unsigned band world in both New Orleans and New York, selling out venues before ever releasing a record. Zebra ruled the roost along side other legendary bands of that era including Rat Race Choir (with Mark Hitt), The Good Rats and Twisted Sister.

Atlantic Records signed Zebra in 1982 and their self-titled debut record was released in March of 1983 and became the fastest selling debut record in Atlantic Records history, selling an amazing 75,000 copies in it's first week. The album stayed on the Billboard charts for eight months, peaking at number 29. The album would achieve the NRAS Gold Record status. Zebra has continued to record and perform, going into their third decade with six albums and a live DVD to their credit. In 2000, Felix Hanemann released his first solo album entitled “Rock Candy”.

Felix Hanemann first joined up with Slashtones Guru Harry Slash on a collaborative recording of Montrose' "Rock Candy" in a project that involved all of individual members of The Slashtones and the band Reckless Fortune. Felix then performed live with The Slashtones in May of 2006 as the band's first and only live keyboard player, filling the live void left by the temporarily unavailable sax player Arno Hecht. Felix then officially joined The Slashtones together they and would release seven songs on various CDs from 2006 to 2008.

In 2009, Felix also took over the bass player's role when regular bassist Tony Moore moved to California rejoined Riot (as lead singer). The Slashtones added Richie Scarlet to the roster on lead guitar in mid-2009 and in early fall the new five person lineup of Felix Hanemann, Harry Slash, Arno Hecht:, Steve "Budgie" Werner and Richie Scarlet began writing, rehearsing and recording songs for a new ("debut") CD. The CD is expected to be released in 2010, along with The ("New & Improved Original") Slashtones return to the stage.
